Revolutionary Wi-Fi 7 adapter with STR MLO technology for truly multi-gigabit wireless connectivity.
UniFi AirWire represents a new generation of Wi-Fi adapters utilizing advanced STR MLO (Simultaneous Transmit and Receive Multi-Link Operation) technology, which enables simultaneous full-duplex communication across 5GHz and 6GHz bands. This achieves real-world speeds of up to 5 Gb/s in full-duplex operation with significantly lower latency than traditional Wi-Fi connections.
The adapter features an integrated super antenna – a directional antenna with 11dBi gain, which can be tilted and aimed at the access point for optimal signal. The compact device measuring 117 × 117 × 42.5 mm features a 0.96" status display for connection monitoring and supports Wireless Meshing function for automatic connection to UniFi access points.
Power Modes and Supply
AirWire automatically switches between standard mode (2.5 Gb/s full duplex) when powered by 15 W from a standard USB-C port and extended mode (5 Gb/s full duplex) when connected to a 20W or higher Power Delivery source. Most modern laptops provide sufficient power for standard mode; for maximum performance, an external 20W adapter is recommended.
Compatibility and Requirements
For full utilization of STR MLO, a UniFi U7 or E7 series access point is required. The adapter is also compatible with older UniFi APs, where it provides extended range and stable connection, but without simultaneous multi-link communication. Support for UniFi Dream Router 7 and UniFi Express 7 will be available through the early access program.
Wireless Meshing and Automatic Connection
The UniFi Wi-Fi Wireless Meshing function ensures automatic connection to the nearest UniFi access points on 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands. The adapter intelligently selects optimal channels and switches between access points for the best possible performance.
